What does the Scrolling Credits Pro app do?

The app allows you to easily and quickly add scrolling credits to the videos you make.  Apple's iMovie and other popular video editing apps are great for editing your videos, but none of them provide a quick and easy way to add scrolling credits, like you see in professional movies and TV shows, to the beginning or ending of your videos. Now you can with Scrolling Credits Pro!

What devices is it compatible with?

The app is available for both iOS (iPhone/iPad) and MacOS (Mac desktop and laptop computers).  Both versions are sold separately and can be purchased from the iPhone App Store and/or the Mac App Store.

How does it work?

It's very easy...

1. Choose from the dozens of backgrounds provided by the app (seamless video loop, solid color, gradient color, image, or chroma key green screen).

2. Enter the text you want to have scroll over the background you've selected. You can even choose to use two columns for your credits, just like the pros.

3. Preview what your scrolling credits will look like, adjusting the font style, font color, font size, and scrolling speed.

4. When you're happy with how everything looks, the app will render and save an HD video clip to your device's Photo Library (Camera Roll) or wherever you specify if running on a Mac. You then run iMovie (or whatever video editing software you use), import the credits clip, and drag it to where you want it to play in your movie.

Everything you do is saved in a "project," so you can always go back and make changes without starting over.

Does it only work with iMovie?

No.  The scrolling credit video clips you create can be used with all popular video editing software.

Can I combine one column and two column credits in one project?

Yes, by using "headings." Watch the tutorial video for the app and see the example projects to learn more.

Can I scroll credits over video footage, instead of over a still photo background (Chroma Key / Green Screen)?

Yes, but you'll need need to use other video editing software on a computer to help with this, such as iMovie, Adobe Premier, etc.

To scroll credits over video footage, start by simply using the app as normal to create your scrolling credits, but choose the Chroma Key (Green Screen) background, or one of the solid colors as the background.

Below is an example of what it will look like:

Render the credits to video and save it to your device.  (If your rendering on an iPhone or iPad, you'll need to use iPhoto to import the video from your device to your computer.)

You can then use your video software's chroma key feature to remove the background from the scrolling credit clip, and then place this clip on top of your video footage.

(If you are not familiar with working with the "green-screen" chroma key feature of your video editing software, you can find a lot of good tutorial videos and reference pages by Googling something like "how to use green screen with imovie," etc.)

How is Scrolling Credits Pro different from earlier apps, such as the regular Scrolling Credits and Extras for iMovie?

There are many advantages!

  • WAY easier to use! Scrolling Credits for iMovie was built from the ground up specifically to do HD scrolling credits with ease-of-use in mind.

  • Renders to either SD 360p, HD 720p, HD 1080p, or even Ultra HD 4K!  (Extras for iMovie only renders to SD 480p.)

  • Support for multiple Aspect Ratios, including: 1:1, 4:3, 16:9, 18:9 (2:1), and 21:9 (7:3).

  • Projects allow you to save and make changes later, without always starting over.

  • Smoother, non-jerking scrolling.

  • Chroma key "green-screen" support.

  • Two column support.

  • Superior device memory management--Stably handles much larger projects without crashing.

  • 168 more fonts than Extras for iMovie (248 total).

  • Dozens of additional backgrounds.

  • Designed for the iPhone, iPad and the Mac.
